Training institutes, trading schools, video-course portals: a written functional specification, purchase and access tests before launch, support in Italian and English.

Why KVA

Courses and students of your own

A training provider, a school or a trainer needs more than a catalogue: courses to sell online and in class, students who can start their lessons as soon as they pay, restricted content, enrolments that reach the CRM. That is why an e-learning platform is built around how you sell your courses: recorded video courses, classroom courses with dates and available places, one-to-one lessons, subscriptions or programmes for companies. From there we decide whether a course store is enough or a platform with custom features is needed.

Since 2016 we have built five course platforms. For a financial training institute we developed a bilingual website that sells online, classroom and one-to-one courses, with student accounts and enquiries that go straight into the CRM. For a video-course portal in Italian and English we built a catalogue browsable by category, language and type of access, free or paid. For other projects we delivered members' areas with lessons in text, PDF and video, and sales pages that give away the first lesson in exchange for an email address.

Every project starts with a written functional specification, approved before development. For course sales we use WooCommerce; when custom features are needed, such as real-time leaderboards or connections with other systems, we build dedicated software. After launch we take care of European hosting, backups and updates for a fixed yearly fee; the domain, the content and the student data stay yours.

    Specification

Written functional specification and prototype of the purchase path and student area, approved before development, with the final quote.

  3. 03

    Build

Releases on a staging environment with the first lessons uploaded: you watch the platform take shape and try it as your students will.

  4. 04

FAQ

Common questions

The questions training providers, schools and trainers ask us most often: costs, marketplace or own platform, classroom courses, student access, subscriptions, getting started and timing.

How much does an e-learning platform cost?

The website of a training provider or trainer, up to 8 pages, costs from €2,500 to €4,500 excluding VAT. A course store with a student area and subscriptions runs from €5,000 to €15,000, a platform with custom features from €9,000 to €30,000 and beyond, and a student app starts at €12,000. Hosting and maintenance are a fixed yearly fee, set in the quote.

Should we sell courses on a marketplace or on our own platform?

A marketplace brings a ready-made audience, but takes a commission on sales, sets rules on pricing and often keeps the students' contact details. Your own platform requires development and a yearly fee, but the brand, prices, data and contacts are yours and you pay no platform commission on the courses you sell. You can also use both: the marketplace to get noticed, your platform for your main courses and returning students.

Can I sell online, classroom and one-to-one courses from the same site?

Yes. There is one catalogue: online courses are bought and started straight away, classroom courses show dates, venue and available places, and one-to-one lessons are bought or requested through a form. Payments, invoices and enrolments all go through the same store; it is the solution we built for a financial training institute, in Italian and English.

How do students access courses after buying?

With a personal account: right after payment they receive their login details by email and enter the student area, where lessons are divided into modules, in video, text or PDF, with materials to download. The content is restricted: only those who bought the course or have an active subscription can see it.

Can we sell subscriptions and time-limited access?

Yes: monthly or yearly subscriptions with recurring payments, access that expires after a set period, bundles of several courses and enrolments for a company's employees. When access expires it closes automatically and the student is invited to renew, with no manual work.

How is an online course platform built?

It starts with a first conversation about courses, students and how you sell; then we write the functional specification and, once the quote is approved, build the platform with releases on a staging environment. You prepare the lessons, which are uploaded module by module; before launch we test purchase, access and subscriptions with trial accounts. The deposit is 30% on acceptance of the quote, the balance at launch.

How long until the platform is live?

From the delivery of content it usually takes 1–2 weeks for a course landing page, 2–4 for a training provider's website, 4–8 for a course store and 1–3 months for a custom platform. An app takes 2–4 months. If not all lessons are ready, you can launch with the first courses and add the others afterwards.
